Great Falls, Montana based Montana Specialty Mills, LLC has begun commissioning their new state of the art full press oilseed crushing plant and vegetable oil refinery. The plant will be dedicated to processing identity preserved organic and non GMO oilseeds.
Montana Specialty Mills, LLC has a long history of specialty oilseed processing. The company has operated a crush plant for over 70 years in Great Falls, Montana as well as a mustard processing plant in Conrad, Montana for over 30 years. The Company is a joint venture between Evans Grain & Elevator Co. of Ogden, Utah and Columbia Grain International of Portland, Oregon formed in 2017 to construct the new facility. Columbia Grain, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation operates multiple agricultural handling and processing facilities in Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho and Washington. Evans Grain operates feed, grain and seed operations in Utah and Idaho. The parent companies’ facilities compliment the origination of raw materials and the sales and distribution of the oil and meal products.
Montana Specialty Mills, LLC is actively expanding its origination programs and is expanding its offerings of production contracts direct with North American producers to support the 10,000 bushel per day plant. The plant will help to serve customers interested in a top quality farm to market supply chain of organic and non GMO vegetable oil and protein meal.
Product offerings include organic and non GMO canola oils and meals, flaxseed and linseed oils and meals, along with potential for sunflower and safflower products from the Montana region. The plant is certified SQF, Kosher, QAI Organic and Non GMO Project Verified. Products will be available Q1 2019.
